Cottages for Rent
HOME PARK PLACE BOARDWALK DEER ISLE LINKS MORE INFO
|
These properties are located on Deer Isle, Maine. Deer Isle is a large
island located along the eastern edge of Penobscot Bay. The weather is
usually much cooler than inland. It is 1 1/2 hours drive from Bangor, six
hours from Boston. Isle au Haut, part of Acadia National Park, can be
reached by boat from Stonington. The island is rural, but is lively in the
summer. There is an active art scene, and a few good restaurants. The famous
Opera House has varied programs in the summer. More information about the two available rental properties, Park Place and Boardwalk, can be found below. |

The house is adjacent to the driveway, in woods, about two blocks from the
road. There is one main structure with connected outbuildings. There are
three bedrooms, two with twin beds and one with a queen bed. The bathroom
has hot and cold running water in sink and shower and an electric toilet.
The kitchen is equipped with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, pots and
pans, lobster pot, and service for eight. Bedroom linens, pillows, blankets,
and towels are provided. There is a large deck with outdoor furniture and a grill. It is often free of mosquitoes. The living room has a wood stove, couch and four easy chairs, excellent reading lights, TV, VCR, family games, books (a family full of librarians!), flashlights, candles, maps on the walls, etc. The dining area has 6-8 chairs. There is a phone and smoke detectors. There are screens on all the windows and screen doors. The woodshed is kept full. |
The deck at Park Place |
| There is access to the shore, which is visible through the trees, by a path through the woods. There are steps for access to the sheltered swimming, when the tide is in. One can walk along the gravel and rocky shore when the tide is out. Boats can also be moored in the cove. We have rented kayaks, and explored Long Cove, which is sheltered from the open ocean. The cove is very quiet and you can see the osprey nest on the opposite point. There are no houses visible from Park Place, but others may be using the parking area for a house further down the path. This house has been a family vacation house, and is fully equipped for summer fun. The woods are quiet and restful and the view is of the woods and the cove through the trees. | |

| The view from the deck is of the cove. The shore is a short way down the slope where there is access to the water. One can walk along the gravel and rocky shore when the tide is low. There is sheltered swimming when the tide is in. We have rented kayaks, and enjoyed exploring Long Cove, which is sheltered from the open ocean. The cove is very quiet, and you can see the osprey nest on the opposite point. There are no houses visible from Boardwalk, except one across the cove, but others may be using the parking area for the house adjacent to it. The deck is usually amazingly free of mosquitoes. This house has been a family vacation house, and is fully equipped for summer fun and large family gatherings. |
